Whippoorwill arts launches music alive program, offering bay area musicians $1,000 in grants12/14/2021
Calling all roots musicians performing in the Bay Area! Whippoorwill Arts launched Music aLIVE offering up to $1000 grants to musicians for live performances.
Music aLIVE supports roots musicians enriching the Bay area community through live music. We encourage musicians to think “outside the box” and to partner with presenting organizations to set up public concerts, for example K-12 public schools, public parks, senior living communities, etc. The grant is intended to help musicians get back to work with paid live performances and bring live music to folks who don’t usually have access. Grants range up to $1000 (depending on ensemble size and length of the concert). This grant program is open to both new and established musicians who play Roots, Bluegrass, Folk, Americana, Blues, and global roots music. We welcome soloists, two- or three-piece ensembles. Larger groups may submit and will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ musicians. Whippoorwill Arts has created initiatives including Whippoorwill Arts Artist Awards, Arts & Music Collaborations, Banjo Boy Coffee Concerts, Whippoorwill Arts Festival of Americana Music, Healthy Living (Vegan Diet and Nutrition), and the Music Home Project by which Whippoorwill Arts seeks to present, support, and promote traditional musicians and the music they preserve, create and share—with a focus on the local community and their networks.
