On November 9th, Walker Lukens took to the stage for Jack Daniel's Lone Star Sessions Live at iconic ACL 3Ten venue.
Now on his third full-length release, the Austin, TX-based songwriter has become well known for embracing contradiction, "blending genres and techniques" (Billboard) into a sound that's hard to pin down. NPR's All Songs Considered described him as a "rhythmic sound effect master" who creates "curious, textured music," while World Cafe called it "wonderfully inventive." Read more about Walker HERE. Jack Daniel's Lone Star Sessions features amazing talent from the Texas area. Second in the lineup is the incredibly talented Jackie Venson.
Obsessed with music from an early age, singer/songwriter Jackie Venson immersed herself in its study, attending the Berklee College of Music to practice classical piano. However, it wasn’t until she switched to the electric guitar, that her long-simmering passion for emotive live performance was realized. Abandoning the straight-laced world of classical for the raw power of blues and soul, Venson has since been tirelessly honing her skills into an intoxicating amalgam of Blues, Rock, R&B and Soul with deeply heartfelt lyrics. Having just released her latest studio album “Joy”, Venson is in the midst of her global “Joy to the World” tour, which will see her playing shows all the way from Alaska to Austria and back! Last, but certainly not least, Jack Daniel's Lone Star Sessions comes to a close with David Ramiez.
Prolific singer and songwriter David Ramirez has earned a large and growing following for his soulful, introspective songs and passionate performances. As a vocalist, Ramirez performs with an understated passion that animates his stories of the ups and downs of life and love, and his music is sorrowfully evocative, steeped in country and roots rock tropes while possessing the atmospheric tone of indie rock. 2009's American Soil and 2012's Apologies are examples of his twang-infused early work, and 2017's We're Not Going Anywhere found him embracing a more ambitious style and production approach.
