October 10th is World Mental Health Day, a day to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
We want to take the opportunity to spotlight the Mental Health Fund @ Sweet Relief. This fund was created to provide services for those in the music industry seeking mental health support. In partnership with mental health professionals, Sweet Relief removes the financial barrier for therapeutic services.
Sweet Relief works closely with Backline, another nonprofit that specializes in mental health work. Backline’s case managers can provide a mental health plan specific to a client’s needs and location, and The Mental Health Fund @Sweet Relief provides a grant to cover unmet costs for a specified number of sessions with a dedicated clinician.
Before the pandemic shut down the music industry as we knew it, an estimated 1 in 8 people globally were living with a mental disorder. The events of 2020 worsened the issue. The percentage of people with anxiety and depressive disorders rose to 25% during that first year. At the same time, access to mental health services dropped.
Our mission is to help members of the music community who are dealing with mental and physical health issues, disability, or age-related problems. We have always believed that mental health IS health and we are working hard to ensure that our community has the services they need.
Please join us in sharing our message. You will find social media graphics below, and a way to donate directly if you are able. There are also sharable Instagram and Facebook fundraisers.
