COVID-19 has completely shut down the live music entertainment business and effectively unemployed all professional live performance musicians including artists and musicians from all genres and ensembles, from orchestras to jazz groups to rock bands, singer-songwriters, and more. Suddenly unemployed musicians are experiencing extreme financial hardship, struggling to put food on the table, pay bills, and be able to care for loved ones and families.
Los Angeles based artist and songwriter, Graham Czach, recruited 33 professional musicians from all around the country, and some from other countries, to record their parts from home with video for a new original song collaboration he wrote and arranged called “Come Home Again”. It's a universal message for all of us around the world. Wherever you are and whatever situation you're in, everyone at some point longs to come home again in a variety of meanings, such as the patient infected that just wants to live and go home again to their loved ones, or the health care worker that has to isolate from their families because they are on the front lines, or the family member wanting to go home to their family living far away or back to their childhood home. We can all relate. The song was mixed and mastered by GRAMMY winning legendary film score engineer, Geoff Foster of AIR Studios London. It's a universal message for everyone dealing with the pandemic right now and a “tribute to all the victims of COVID-19, their families, friends, and front line workers that are saving lives every day and continuing to make the world run.” The COVID Musicians Relief Fund GoFundMe, created in an effort to help the unemployed music community with the release of the song and music video says, “Thank you to all the nurses, doctors, grocery store workers, postal workers, and more out there risking their lives so we can live ours.” The funds raised from the COVID Musicians Relief Fund will be distributed to all US based musicians that apply for relief with verification of loss of work and proof of financial hardship. The plan is to provide a $250 payment to each applicant on a first come, first serve basis. “The more we raise, the more musicians we can help. Every little bit goes a long way. We thank you for your contribution, it is much appreciated!”, says organizer/artist Graham Czach. Link to donate/apply below. It’s hard to imagine the amount of hairspray that must have hung in the air during 1985’s star-studded charity recording of “We are the World” (no doubt, a serious fire hazard’s worth). In the days of Covid-19, we can’t imagine going out for a beer after work, much less picture Cherie Currie, Mike Watt and Josie Cotton huddled around an expensive microphone, one hand over their ear, the other floating soulfully in the air as if to find that perfect note.
These days, our rock ‘n’ roll saviors are recording at ad hoc home-studios, but that doesn’t mean they can’t come together to change the world through the power of song and a strong internet connection. Enter 2020’s fist-pumping quarantine anthem, “Flatten the Curve,” which dropped May 5th in an effort to raise funds for Jubilee Consortium and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Continue reading on New Noise Mag Rapper and #SweetSupporter Watsky will be embarking on a journey to break the Guinness World Record of longest free style. Today (5/6) starting at 10am PST, he will start a livestream on multiple platforms and the flow will begin. While doing this, Watsky will also be raising funds for his band and crew that lost work due to his rescheduled tour, as well as Sweet Relief's COVID-19 Fund! On top of this already generous move, Watsky will be starting a Fan Fund, that he will seed with 10k of his own money to start, which will reimburse fans that cannot get tickets, hotels, and flights refunded.
We're so grateful to be a part of this! Please join us in cheering Watsky on throughout the (hopefully) 33 hour event! Grammy-nominated Seth Glier is a singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. NPR describes his voice as “otherworldly” while praising him as “an engaging performer and storyteller.” His critically acclaimed, emotionally dense catalog of work often draws upon traditional roots music, experimental instrumentation, and moody atmospheres that result in soulfully intelligent stories that can alternatively fight the power or break your heart. “The music of Seth Glier veers towards being indefinable.” – Paste Magazine 22 year old Chinese-American singer/song writer, and #SweetSupporter MARG (Margarita Landry) was born May 26th, 1997 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
